Important Supplement Information

Give Vitamin C daily for the entire life of your dog

If you have an Honor Golden Retriever, then you know by now that we highly recommend the daily use of Vitamin C. Vitamin C has many, many benefits to the body. These apply to humans as well as your doggie. Here are some of the multitude of benefits of giving Vitamin C every day.

  • Helps prevent Hip Dysplasia as well as other joint and spine degeneration in growing puppies, especially large breeds

  • Promotes collagen and cartilage growth and production

  • Is a powerful antioxidant. Helps rid body of free radicals and regular use can reduce the risk of developing cancer. A powerful immune system helps your dog fend off disease, stress, anxiety, depression and general fatigue

  • It supports the immune system function and helps to protect from viral disease
  • Powerful treatment against parvo and distemper in dogs
  • Promotes wound healing
  • Is water soluble so it is not toxic to the body, any excess that the body doesn't use is excreted out through the urine
  • Wards off and can shorten the common cold in humans
  • Benefits the sick and stressed animal, a 1942 study noted that dogs with skin diseases usually have very low amounts of vitamin C in their blood.
What we are finding is that vets will tell their clients that Vitamin C is not helpful and (gasp!) can even be harmful! This is simply not true. Please remember that vets get very little to NO training on nutrition, dog foods or preventative care. Be informed and do your own research before you discontinue the use of Vitamin C due to your vets recommendation.
Many vets may say that dogs do not need a supplement of Vitamin C because dogs produce their own, in their own bodies. While this is true that they produce Vitamin C, it is only up to 35 lbs, after that their body no longer produces it. Any wonder why Hip Dysplasia and other joint problems are so prevalent in larger breeds??
Dr. Wendell O. Belfield is a pioneer in discovering the lack of Vitamin C in our pets diets and the effects it has on treating disease. Here is an excellent article https://webfiles.uci.edu/mcbrown/display/belfield.html
