What are safe treats to give your pet?

After many pet food recalls, there have also been many pet treat recalls. Of course we all want to keep our pets safe and give them treats that are not only safe for them to munch on, but also nutritious.

We feel that it's best to make treats for your dog yourself, because you know exactly what is going into them.  However, we know that is not always possible to do that for our pets. Be on the look out for future posts with easy recipes for treats, as we want to add several healthy snack and treat options to this blog. Remember, most dogs love bananas or apples and that is usually a safe and easy treat to give.  Also, knuckle bones (sometimes labeled as "soup bones") are excellent for chewing, teething puppies and also just keeping the teeth and gums healthy. If you can't easily find them, ask someone in the meat department. Just make sure  that they are big enough. Any smaller pieces that could possibly be swallowed and choked on should be thrown out. Because they can be kind of gooey, we suggest they only be given in a crate or an easily cleaned floor surface and be extra careful if there are small children in the house since they are raw bones.

After searching for good dog treats, I knew it would be a tough search. Overall, I found the safest to be freeze dried.  They don't have anything added to the ingredient on most of them. Just pure meat that's been dehydrated or freeze dried. I found many more of these out there so this is in no way all of them. Outside of that were only a select few of actual treats worth mentioning.
